Mayyun and QNA Organize Training Workshop in Shabwa to Strengthen Lawyers’ Role in Protecting Human Rights and Providing Legal Aid

Mayyun Organization for Human Rights, in partnership with the Qana Foundation for Rights and Media in Shabwa Governorate, organized today a training workshop titled “The Role of Lawyers in Protecting Human Rights,” with the participation of 15 male and female lawyers from the governorate.
The workshop program focused on providing participants with essential knowledge and skills in defending human rights and delivering legal and judicial assistance in accordance with international standards. It included practical presentations on the legal and conceptual framework of human rights, context analysis, and legal evaluation of information in light of international conventions.
The workshop also covered discussions on professional ethics, lawyers’ self-protection, and the role of legal practitioners in providing support and legal protection to victims of human rights violations. A significant portion was devoted to examining the challenges and working environment related to rights and freedoms in Shabwa Governorate.
The event witnessed a constructive and fruitful dialogue between the participants and the two deputy governors of Shabwa, Fahd Al-Dheeb and Fahd Al-Tawsali, during which key challenges faced by lawyers in providing legal support were discussed. The workshop concluded with an emphasis on the importance of developing and strengthening mechanisms for cooperation and coordination among civil society organizations, lawyers, and the local authorities in the governorate to uphold the rule of law and improve access to justice.
