Mayyun Organization Conducts Training Workshop in Aden on Humanitarian Aid Access
Aden – Tuesday, May 20, 2025
Mayyun Organization for Human Rights, in partnership with the Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC), organized a training workshop in Aden targeting 15 members of community protection committees. The workshop, titled “Humanitarian Aid Access within the Framework of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights,” aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the international legal frameworks governing the delivery and distribution of humanitarian assistance.
The training focused on key principles of humanitarian work, including humanity, independence, neutrality, and impartiality. It covered topics related to international humanitarian law, mechanisms for civilian protection, and the role of community engagement in facilitating humanitarian aid access. Additionally, the workshop addressed the challenges faced by humanitarian workers in Yemen.
Participants emphasized the importance of empowering community protection committees to monitor and advocate for the equitable distribution of aid to the most vulnerable populations. They highlighted the need to uphold transparency, accountability, and humanitarian justice, especially in light of declining humanitarian funding.
This workshop is part of Mayyun and CIVIC’s ongoing efforts to raise legal and community awareness and to support the protection of civilians in conflict-affected areas of Yemen.
