Mayyun Organization: The abduction of organization employees is an inhumane means to achieve political gains.

Mayoon Organization for Human Rights Condemns Houthi Group’s Abduction Campaign Against Yemeni Employees Working for International Organizations

Mayyun Organization for Human Rights strongly condemns the recent abduction campaign carried out by the Houthi group, which, in the past 48 hours, targeted several Yemeni employees working for international organizations operating in areas under their control.

The organization has verified the detention of one Yemeni employee’s working with UNICEF and six other Yemenis working with the World Food Programme (WFP).

These repressive actions are vehemently condemned, as they are not only an inhumane means to achieve political gains but also part of the ongoing efforts by the Houthi group to impose restrictions on humanitarian aid, hindering its delivery to those in need, in clear violation of international humanitarian law.

At Mayyun Organization, we renew our call for the immediate cessation of these arbitrary actions against humanitarian workers and for the unconditional and immediate release of all abducted employees of UN organizations, international organizations, local civil society organizations, and foreign embassies.
We also warn against continuing these violations against humanitarian workers and creating complex obstacles to the work of humanitarian aid organizations, as this exacerbates the suffering of those in need of assistance and further complicates the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
